"Praṇamya śirasā devam" — Narada's hymn of the twelve names of Ganesha, recited to undo saṅkaṭa — a narrow pass, a strait, danger. The first four verses bow to him and name the twelve in order, from Vakratuṇḍa to Gajānana; the last four give the fruit of reciting them at the three junctions of the day: no fear of obstacles, and learning, wealth, children or liberation to whoever asks.
Having bowed the head to the Lord Vinayaka, son of Gauri — one should ever remember him, the dweller in his devotees' hearts, for the attainment of long life, desires, and prosperity.
