माहेश्वरसूत्राणि
The fourteen sūtras with which Pāṇini's grammar opens — the sounds of Sanskrit set out in order, each group closed by a marker letter from which the grammar builds its sound-classes. Tradition says they sounded from Śiva's drum at the end of his dance; they are chanted as the garland of letters at the start of Sanskrit study.
