Karagre Vasate Lakshmi

कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः

The morning sloka recited on waking, before rising from bed, while gazing at one's own open palms — Lakshmi at the fingertips, Saraswati at the centre, Govinda at the root — so that the day begins with the sight of the hand that will do its work.

कराग्रे वसते लक्ष्मीः करमध्ये सरस्वती।

karagre vasate lakshmih karamadhye sarasvati

karāgre vasate lakṣmīḥ karamadhye sarasvatī

हाथ के अग्रभाग में लक्ष्मी का वास है और हथेली के मध्य में सरस्वती का,

At the tip of the hand dwells Lakshmi; in the middle of the hand, Saraswati;

करमूले तु गोविन्दः प्रभाते करदर्शनम्॥

karamule tu govindah prabhate karadarshanam

karamūle tu govindaḥ prabhāte karadarśanam

और हाथ के मूल में गोविन्द का — इसलिए प्रातःकाल अपने हाथों का दर्शन करना चाहिए।

and at the base of the hand, Govinda — therefore at daybreak one should look upon one's hand.
